Success Abi and I just made 5 star taco seasoning with very little sodium content!!! With Bradley's kidney disease it is important to find easy ways to change our diets so we are going to be trying new recipes. I Just fed it to Baili, Abi, Brad and Bri and got two thumbs up....and thats a tough crowd to please! Recipe: Ingredients 2 teaspoons chili powder 1-1/2 teaspoons paprika 1-1/2 teaspoons ground cumin 1 teaspoon onion powder 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper Preparation Mix spices together in a small jar or bowl. Use to season meat for tacos, fajitas or burritos. Nutrients per serving comparing Mine/traditional name brand package Calories 8 /20 Protein 0 g/ 0 Carbohydrates 2 g/ 4g Fat 0 g /0 Cholesterol 0 mg /unlisted Sodium 10 mg/ 430mg Potassium 46 mg /unlisted Phosphorus 9 mg/ unlisted Calcium 10 mg /unlisted Fiber 0.5 g unlisted First three ingredients for traditional seasoning packet was yellow corn flour, Salt, Maltodextran...........and last was caramel color (isn't this what was in the news that is in soda?) Just proves we don't need that premix for taste and convenience we just need to plan ahead! It took Abi and me all of 2 minutes to mix up! Dollar General has spices for 1 dollar and the rest I got Schnucks brand for 1.99 I am sure you can purchase very cheap at other stores! Feel free to try and comment. We welcome any good low sodium healthy recipes!
